You and others absolutely should submit designs to MMSC for Slemon! I won't argue with anyone offering to do so but I guess we're looking at the glass differently... half-full vs half-empty. I don't see a problem with the courses there, at least not enough to say I won't recommend it to others. Where you've identified the "U" turns (not always in the same position, orientation, radii from year to year to year) I've identified the slaloms and faster areas.

By "memory of a goldfish" are you referring to that required to do the Slemon courses or the memory of previous years' courses? Not remembering previous years' courses should be a benefit! Not remembering where the course goes would certainly be a detriment but as I said, removing some cones from the sea would make a basic understanding of the course enough to get through it.

If one of the goals is to have a course that doesn't favour one type of car over another then looking at the Top 10 Pax times over a # of years and comparing them to Digby would seem to show both courses over these years have done so . These are the % Differences between the 1st and 10th position (PAX times) for each day of Digby and Slemon. Digby average: 5.1%; Slemon average: 4.5% ... not a statistically significant difference.

2017
Digby Day1 5.7%
Digby Day2 5.9%
Slemon Day1 4.6%
Slemon Day2 4.1%

2016
Digby Day1 4.4%
Digby Day2 6.3%
Slemon Day1 5%
Slemon Day2 0.8%

2015
Digby Day1 7.3%
Digby Day2 6.5%
Slemon Day1 3.7%
Slemon Day2 3.6%

2014
Digby Day1 4.8%
Digby Day2 4.4%
Slemon Day1 6.2%
Slemon Day2 4.7%

2013
Digby Day1 4.2%
Digby Day2 1.3%
Slemon Day1 5.0%
Slemon Day2 6.7%

Can the area template be posted up for the creation of future designs?
I mean the grid that marks out the available area and obstacles within that need to be avoided

That was an enlightening interview! The manual he created is a bible but hearing him comment about specific goals, elements, process, etc was extra enlightening! The full replay was to be added to YouTube for future reference.

Note to self: when you're sitting third in the group after 4 runs in the rain, shut up about the idea of extra runs!

Well, I liked the course. Simple, fast, fun and no repetitive elements. And thanks to everyone who was willing to work the afternoon while we got 2 dry runs. Didn't help me out, but at least we had a chance!

Day 1

Day 2 wet

In the overall standings my points are divided between two different identities lol. Stephen P for Digby and Steve P for Slemon.

Also guys, great job. Those were very fun courses to run, thank you for organizing!

At Slemon, normally I have a hard time adjusting to the course being run backwards, you know, the typical "I can carry speed here because I did yesterday" type attitude. This year, along with major course changes, I didn't notice that. I enjoyed it both days, so much so that I stayed on course a bit longer than my co-driver   .
Excellent job to MMSC on course design, while I still enjoyed going down the runway further, this was the most enjoyable Slemon for me course wise in years!! Kudos to you. And also one more shout out to Ming for going out in the pouring rain to make the course run able for us...i was a vagina boy and didn't walk the course Sunday, and I'd say close to 90% of the others didn't either. I started....lol. Thanks also to Matt Steeves for the use of his Miata...and the ass whooping!!

All in all a great weekend!! Thanks!

Graham, Darrell, Mark were out there helping as well. I didn't think I needed my rain gear when I left for PEI so I left it at home to save space.

Yes, thanks to them as well! I only saw everyone look at you at the drivers meeting. Lol. Guess the all had rain suits. Great event regardless! Thanks everyone!

Thank you to everyone who organized the weekend, it was a absolute blast. It was my first time to the event and definitely won't be my last.

The course was fast with a good flow.

Great weekend, thanks for all the hard work put in by the organizers. The course was alot of fun. I just wish we could have more than one event on PEI!

Great job with the course design - it had speedy and it had pinchy, but not too much of either. Sometime we should have a start line that doesn't throw you straight at a wall of cones, but that's of minor importance compared to the rest of the course.
Props to the people that worked the mornings (and prior weekend) to make it all happen. Especially Sunday. Sunday morning sucked, and I wasn't standing in the rain nearly as early as you guys.

Saturday I was happy with my runs, but Sunday I had some bad luck (albeit better luck than the first run group :P )
I was cooking through the corners on the last 2 runs Sunday, but the car wasn't accelerating out the way I'm used to. I thought maybe it was heat-soaked or fuel-starved. Turns out an intercooler clamp popped off, so I was only getting 3psi. Good enough for a 77 on those runs, but I think the car had a 73 in it if it had stayed together :orglaugh:
This week I'll be moving the IC and pipes around to make sure it all sits more passively, so hopefully the same thing doesn't happen again

Got the wrong finish coordinates on day 1 so it only recorded up to the second turn-around. Videos from day 2:
